The contours of the Buck 112 Slim are the same as those of the normal 112 Ranger. The use of materials and the finishes, however, are different. The handle, for instance, is made from light-weight FRN. This is an extremely strong type of plastic. Quite the change when compared to the heavy brass, because the Buck 112 Slim only weighs 70 grams. The blade is made from 420HC. Simply because there is nothing wrong with it. A great type of steel, especially when it is hardened according to the BOS recipe, like this knife is. Buck, however, did change the finish. The blade on the Buck 112 Slim is enhanced with a stonewashed finish. This means that it was placed in a rotating drum filled with stones, leaving tiny scratches on the blade. So much it makes the blade look polished. As a result traces of use will hardly stand out.

You open the blade with the double thumb studs. When opened a solid backlock locks the blade. As such it will never accidentally close. The pocket clip can be placed on both sides of the handle and opening and closing the knife can easily be done by left and right-handed users. As such this knife is a real friend to all.
